How to Use Honeloom Lip Balm
A honey-pot lip balm is simple to use, and a few small habits make it work better and keep the pot clean for weeks. Here is how we recommend using your Honeloom balm.
Using the honey dipper
- Open the pot and dip the rounded end of the honey dipper into the balm.
- Give it a small twist to pick up a thin coat. You need less than you think.
- Glide the dipper across your top lip, then your bottom lip, and press your lips together to spread the balm evenly.
- Wipe the dipper with a clean tissue and close the lid tightly.
Every order comes with two dippers, so keep one at home and one in your bag. If you prefer, a clean fingertip works too. The dipper simply keeps fingers out of the pot, which helps the balm stay cleaner for longer. Lost both? A 3-pack of replacement applicators is available.
Daytime routine
Apply a thin layer in the morning and whenever your lips feel tight, after meals or after drinking. Try not to lick your lips; saliva evaporates quickly and leaves them drier than before. Our balms do not contain sunscreen, so when you spend time outdoors, use a lip product with SPF 30 or higher as well.
Night routine
Before bed, apply a slightly thicker layer and leave it on while you sleep. Overnight is when a balm has the most time to keep moisture in. Once or twice a week, you can gently exfoliate first with a sugar scrub, then follow with a lip mask, as in our lip care sets. Skip the scrub if your lips are cracked or sore.
Keeping your balm in good shape
- Keep the lid closed when you are not using it.
- Store the pot away from heat. A hot car or a sunny windowsill can soften the balm; if that happens, let it cool and it will firm up again.
- Use one pot per person rather than sharing.
- With daily use, a 5 g pot lasts about four to six weeks.
When to stop using it
Stop using any lip product that stings, itches or causes swelling. Our balms contain bee products, so they are not for anyone allergic to bees, propolis or pollen. If dry, cracked lips don't get better after two to three weeks of care, it is worth seeing a dermatologist to find out why.
